Daka provides fallen stock collection services for horses and ponies throughout Denmark.

Our task is to ensure correct handling – for the sake of safety, infection control and current regulations alike – while at the same time making it as easy as possible for you as a horse owner.

Booking and payment

Collection must be booked and paid for via our self-service solution.
This ensures that we can schedule the collection correctly and without unnecessary waiting time.

How the collection takes place

One of our drivers will collect the horse from the specified address.

Practicalities – before collection

To ensure the collection can proceed safely and without delays, it is important that the access conditions are in order.

Space, access and clearance height
The collection will be carried out using a large, wide lorry, which requires plenty of space.

  • There must be free and unhindered access right up to the horse.
  • The lorry must be able to turn round on the site or reverse into the collection point. It is not permitted to reverse the lorry out onto a public road.
  • The lorry is approximately four metres high, so there must be sufficient clearance height (approximately six metres) to allow the crane and hook to operate unhindered (e.g. no low-hanging branches, overhead cables or overhangs).

If access conditions are narrow, soft, steep or otherwise difficult, you should consider placing the horse in a more accessible location prior to collection.

Prices

The collection prices below include VAT and apply throughout Denmark:

  • Horse without shoes: DKK 1,910
  • Horse with shoes: DKK 4,249
  • Foals under 3 months: DKK 669

A road and administration fee of DKK 108.75 is added, as well as a fee to the Equine Tax Fund of DKK 178.50.

The total price is always clearly stated in connection with booking in the self-service solution.

FAQ: Booking and collection

Private horse owners must book and pay for collection online via Daka’s Shop.

Collection is scheduled after booking. A precise time for collection is not provided, and collection may take place as early as approximately 5 am.

In some cases we can collect on the same day as you order. As a rule, collection takes place the following day. Since the routes are planned the night before, we cannot guarantee a specific collection time.

No, as a general rule, it is not necessary, provided that access is not an issue.

As a rule, we collect from private horse owners every weekday.

On a number of islands, specific collection days apply:

  • Fanø: Thursday
  • Orø: Thursday
  • Møn: Monday, Wednesday and Friday
  • Bogø: Monday, Wednesday and Friday
  • Langeland: Monday, Wednesday and Friday
  • Ærø: Tuesday (during the summer months, Tuesday and Friday)
  • Samsø: Friday (during the summer, Tuesday and Friday)
  • Læsø: Friday (during the summer, Tuesdays and Fridays)

Changes may occur during public holidays.

The collection of dead horses is normally carried out by Daka.

Falck can arrange collection from private homes, and pet crematoria exist.

Due to the risk of disease transmission, it is not possible to deliver a dead horse to a Daka plant yourself.

FAQ: Location and Access

The horse must be positioned no more than three metres from a road suitable for vehicles (asphalt or gravel), so that the lorry’s crane can reach it.

At the same time, there must be a safe distance from live stock in stables and in fields.

The collection will take place with a large lorry approximately four metres in height. The access road must therefore be able to support heavy traffic, and the driver must be able to turn around on the property or reverse in. The driver must not reverse out onto a public road.

There must also be a minimum clearance of six metres, as the lifting is carried out using a grapple and a crane.

In addition, a road and administration charge totalling DKK 108.75 is added.

For horses and ponies, a contribution of DKK 178.50 is also paid into the Horse Retirement Fund.

Current prices are always shown in Daka’s Shop.

When handling and transporting horses, any metal parts must be removed. Therefore, the collection of horses with horseshoes is more expensive.

It is therefore usually a cheaper option for you as a customer if the shoes are removed before collection.

The price is based on the costs of collection, transport and handling, and not on the size of the animal.
