Raw materials and products
Our raw materials come from Danish pig abattoirs and are classified as category 3 by-products.
At the plant in Løsning, the by-products are processed into:
- animal protein for pet food
- fat products for animal feed
The products are sold in Denmark and to a large extent internationally – from Europe to markets in Asia, Africa and South America, among others.
Operation in Løsning
Daka SARVAL is a central part of the processing of Category 3 material in Denmark and forms a permanent and important link in the value chain surrounding food production.
By-products must be handled and processed into finished goods within 24 hours. This places high demands on planning, quality assurance and employees at all stages of production – and is a prerequisite for these residual streams to be used in new applications

Local circuit
The production in Løsning is closely connected to the surrounding area.
Surplus heat from the plant is supplied to the local district heating network and used to heat homes.
Treated process water with residual nutrient content is stored in three large basins and piped out for field irrigation by local farmers. This utilises the nutrients while reducing the need to use groundwater.
Environment and dialogue
Operations are carried out within the scope of current environmental permits and under ongoing regulatory supervision.
As is the case with many production facilities, odours from production may be noticeable, depending on weather conditions. Over the years, a wide range of measures have been implemented to reduce the impact, and this work continues.
We prioritise open dialogue with neighbours and authorities and take all enquiries seriously.

Collaboration with slaughterhouses
Daka SARVAL collaborates with Danish pig slaughterhouses on the handling of by-products as an integrated part of their production.
Collection and handling are tailored to each individual operation and take place on an ongoing basis – both scheduled and as needed. This requires flexible solutions and an organisation that can react quickly.
We handle all relevant production by-products and act as an integral part of the value chain – regardless of size, needs and location in the country.
