Daka is built on recycling.
We transform food chain by-products into new resources
– safe and documented from collection to finished product.

Raw materials and applications

Daka collects animal by-products from farms and slaughterhouses. This also includes fallen stock handled as part of veterinary emergency preparedness.

The by-products are categorised according to EU law and can be processed into:

  • Fertiliser products, including Øgro
  • Feed ingredients
  • Energy, including biofuel and biodiesel feedstock

Food waste and used cooking oil

Food waste and used cooking oil are collected from food producers and professional kitchens.

Food waste is converted into biopulp for biogas production, while the used cooking oil is used in the production of 2nd generation biodiesel.

Frameworks and handling

The handling of animal by-products is regulated by the EU By-Products Regulation, which establishes classification and possible uses.

Risk management is an integral part of our work from collection to finished product, focusing on disease prevention, product quality and consideration for the environment.

Where it takes place

The recirculation takes place at several locations with different functions – from collection and transhipment to processing and production, depending on the type and use of the material.

Climate effect

By making use of existing resources and replacing new raw materials and fossil fuels, we reduce emissions and the pressure on new resources.
